Mobile Solutions with Xamarin.Forms and Considerations Before Using Open Source

May 21, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Building Mobile Solutions with Xamarin.Forms

Everyone wants a mobile application, but supporting each of the major platforms isn’t a trivial task. Ramping up multiple programming languages and duplicated logic per platform are major concerns that need to be addressed. With Xamarin.Forms, developers can build native mobile applications using the power of .NET while achieving a high level of code reuse. In this session, we’ll explore the core features of Xamarin.Forms and see what it takes to get started building quality native apps.

Cecil Phillip is a Software Developer from South Florida with many years of experience building applications on the .NET Framework. Throughout his career, his primary focus has been providing web and service based solutions for various markets. Cecil’s current tool-set of choice comprises of C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Web API, jQuery, KnockoutJS, Entity Framework, XUnit and FakeItEasy. He has a passion for software architecture, interoperability, and testing. Cecil also enjoys experimenting with different programming platforms such as Python, PowerShell, and NodeJS. Mandatory Considerations Before Using Open Source Code

There is rarely a topic in business that can divide a crowd with as much passion and fury as a political debate. However, Open Source Code has that ability. Whether you’re a software developer, a business owner or an acquirer of businesses, you need to understand Open Source Code. It’s too advantageous to ignore and too dangerous to underestimate.

This presentation will cover:

i. A general history and overview of Open Source Code,
ii. Its legal mechanics and potential legal pitfalls, and
iii. Prudent courses of action for:

a. Software Developers who are looking to avoid malpractice;
b. Business Owners who are looking to avoid unforeseen litigation; and
c. Business Acquirers who are looking to save money on the purchase price of acquisitions.
